Eric Schweikert won this audition today. Heard that the other finalists were Jake Darnell (Huntsville Sym) and Brad Davis (Hawaii Sym). Eric has been acting in the role this season, and was runner up at the audition Jim Benoit won a few years ago.

Heard this one was a no-hire today. 4 semifinalists, all hold positions with major US orchestras, and fun fact, 2 of them studied at CIM. None advanced to finals.
This follows the Assistant Timpani audition in November, which also ended in a no-hire. Womp womp.
I’m told the national round for this position resulted in a no-hire after no candidates advanced from semifinals.
The Air Force Ceremonial Brass Band hired a few percussionists at their auditions yesterday - the names I heard are Pat Chapman and Christopher Baird, not sure if there are others too

Five candidates participated in a screened final round earlier today, and three of them have been advanced to an orchestra round to be held at a later date.

I've been told that Chris Mehrefshan, a grad student at Southern Methodist, won the principal timpani audition for Amarillo Symphony.
David Riccobono won this audition today, congrats to him! He recently finished grad school at USC and also won this same position with the St Louis Symphony back in April .
The runner up was Jay Ritchie of the Detroit Symphony and the other finalists were Jonathan Wisner and Wesley Sumpter.
