Apparently there was an audition for trials a few months ago, does anyone have updates about this?
For sure! The two friends of mine invited are based in Europe and North America. The friend of mine who hasn't heard anything since September/October is also based in North America. I agree. I recall one of them saying that the orchestra would pay for travel, but regardless, I find the whole dilemma to be interesting, to say the least.

Chandler Currier is the winner. Originally from Smyrna, TN and currently in the third year of his undergraduate studies at the Juilliard School. A wonderful "homegrown" addition to the Nashville Symphony!

Cristina Cutts has won the position of principal tuba with the Phoenix Symphony.
Should be noted that supposedly the committee also qualified two candidates as runner-ups - Kevin Bock and Ethan Marmolejos.
Multiple sources have confirmed that Conrad Shaw actually won this audition. Andrew Weiss was the runner-up.

Congrats to Aaron Tindall, the winner of this week's Principal Tuba audition for the Naples Philharmonic. Aaron currently teaches at the University of Miami and plays in the Sarasota Orchestra.
Other finalists were Dan Honaker and Andy Abel.
I heard LA Phil just hired a very young student from Univ of Miami for its Principal Tuba position. Does anyone know who it was? Also heard there was one other superfinalist from another major orchestra 😳
Mason Soria (just won Richmond Symphony, was supposed to start in September but is currently still an MM student at the University of Miami) won the position. Congrats to Mason!
