Gotta love the per-service, less-than-$10k-a-year job not hiring. Who are they expecting to attract - the NY Phil section? They're going to get mostly local players and students (many of whom are fully capable of doing well in this position).

Here's an odd detail- David Bilger, professor of trumpet at Northwestern/former principal trumpet of the Philadelphia Orchestra, was flown down by the Music Director to "assist with the audition." When I read that, I asked myself "what in the cba is this?" Has anyone ever heard of a guest all star being brought in to serve on an audition committee?

This is what I've been hearing from other people. I've heard that this has been the case with musicians on the committee bickering with each other (this seems to have been the case for the past countless principal trombone auditions). I absolutely believe that every audition that is held is always with the intention of hiring someone, but it sounds like there is disagreement on the direction they want to take the symphony.
