Congratulations to Rémi Pelletier on being named the winner of this audition. And bravo to all the other finalists. If someone on Audition Forum wants to post the names of the finalists please get each musician’s consent before doing so. (I’d imagine there are several valid reasons why they might not want their finals audition results to be public information.) And thank you to the committee/Toronto Symphony musicians for leaving the curtain up in finals. We need screened finals to become the norm!

Cooper won the job back in the fall after they (Dave Cooper & Mark Almond) had completed their trials. I was told Cooper has not yet signed a contract with SFS.

I heard no one won/was hired outright. The committee gave Jaclyn Rainey a trial.

Did they end up hiring?

I heard three trials were given out. Does anyone know who the candidates are and which positions they’re trialing for- are they all trialing for both AP and section etc?

Curious when semifinals are taking place? Also yes that is a long time to wait. Hope someone knows something.

Was a winner finally chosen?

If my source is correct the two super finalists are Nikki LaBonte, who started in finals at the audition and is currently playing 10+ weeks as guest principal this season, and Jesse Clevenger who started in a previous (semi or prelim) round. Both their trials should take place before July. Full disclosure here, I’m not in the orch and my info’s second hand-absolutely chime in if I’ve been told wrong. Best of luck to them both and congrats to Baltimore!

Beatrice Chen was hired. Marlea Simpson was given a two week trial. The entire audition was held behind a screen.

Both 3rd Chair and section were no hires.
