The Glenn Gould School (GGS) is one of the leading post-secondary music institutions in the world. Dedicated exclusively to performance training, GGS is located at The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Canada — an institution with a storied tradition since 1886.

The Rebanks Family Fellowship and International Performance Residency Program at GGS is the only one of its kind in Canada, offering a rich curriculum for career development. Alumni of the program grace the world’s great stages, including Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall and Koerner Hall, perform with major orchestras and opera companies in Canada and abroad, and are members of leading chamber ensembles.

As a one-year, tuition-free program (+ living stipend of $7,000), Rebanks Fellows are fully supported and encouraged to explore their creativity through projects they are passionate about. The program includes private study with exceptional faculty and guest artists, performance opportunities, career coaching, incredible facilities, and marketing training – all with the goal of kickstarting a professional career in music. Note:  The Rebanks Family Fellowship Program is offered to classical musicians across all instrumental and vocal disciplines.

Key Program Features:

Marketing & Portfolio Development Each Rebanks Fellow will participate in a professional quality video recording session in acclaimed Koerner Hall with support from a professional production team. Fellows will receive high-quality performance footage along with a professionally crafted marketing video that integrates interview content and performance highlights.

International Performance Residency

An important component of The Rebanks Family Fellowship is a fully funded international performance residency. This residency provides each Rebanks Fellow with the opportunity to experience the highest standard of international music training and performance specific to their own development and strategically expand their professional outlook and network. It will expose them to different approaches and artistic values and provide for engagement personally and professionally with an elite

international peer group.

Career Coaching and Artist Networking

Drawing on its wide network, The Glenn Gould School connects Rebanks Fellows with inspiring career coaches and mentors in Canada and abroad. Past examples include Yo-Yo Ma, Emmanual Ax, Karen Slack, Jonathan Freeman-Attwood, Benjamin Bowman, and Pedja Mužijević.

Additionally, each Rebanks Fellow has the opportunity to receive regular lessons and coaching with celebrated faculty from The Glenn Gould School. Among these educational opportunities, Rebanks Fellows work with Cami Davila in one-on-one and group class capacities on performance mindset and overall wellness to develop the five pillars of high-performance musicians.

Performance Opportunities

Performance is at the core of this program. Each Rebanks Fellow will be presented in both recital and chamber music performances throughout the year with The Royal Conservatory and our many presenting partners.

Orchestral musicians will be invited to take leadership roles in the Royal Conservatory Orchestra, working with such conductors as Peter Oundjian, JoAnn Falletta, Tania Miller, and Johannes Debus.

Rebanks Fellows participate in outreach performances with partners from across Toronto, from Princess Margaret Cancer Center to Metropolitan Church’s Noon at the Met series. Other partners include CAMH, The Alzheimer Society Toronto, The Bitove Method, and Nine Sparrows Arts Foundation.

Alumni Success

Now boasting over 60 graduates, alumni of the Rebanks Family Fellowship Program have recorded for major international labels including Warner Records, Chandos Records, Linn Records, Klarthe Records and Orpheus Classical. They have also been appointed to the world’s top orchestras and are performing in some of the premiere venues in the world.
