About this opportunity:

This musical audition will be conducted in two parts: (1) an initial screening and selection by pre-recorded submissions and (2) a live audition for those selected from the initial screening.

PRE-SCREENING REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
1. Pre-screen recording
a. Solo: choose one solo from the following (or select a comparable solo work)
• Vaughan Williams: Concerto for Bass Tuba, mvt 1
• Ziek: Concerto for Tuba & Wind Ensemble
• Barnes: Tuba Concerto, mvt 1 or 3
• Koetsier: Tuba Concertino, mvt 1 or 3

b. Excerpts: submit 5 excerpts showcasing a variety of styles.
Suggested excerpts include, but are not limited to:
• Grainger/Fennell: Lincolnshire Posy “Rufford Park Poachers”,
pickup to 51 -64 (lower octave)
• Revueltas: Sensemaya
• V. Williams: Toccata Marziale, opening to one bar after 5 (lower octave)
• Grantham: J’ai Ete Au Bal, pickup to 116 – 140
• Holst: First Suite in E flat, Chaconne, first 9 measures and pickup to B – C (upper octave)
• Bernstein: Symphonic Dance Music from West Side Story, Fugue, 2 mm before 54, to 3 mm after 64
• Hindemith: Symphony in B flat, Mvt 1, I – K and mm 203 - 209

Please look over the requirements carefully to determine if you are prepared to audition at this time. The following information outlines important dates and requirements.
05 Sept 2024 – Deadline for receipt of all musical pre-screening materials
09 Sept 2024 – Notification of pre-screening results sent by email (exact date may vary)
10 Oct 2024 – Live audition at Scott AFB, Illinois

In addition to passing the musical audition, applicants must meet all Air Force age, weight, medical, financial, legal, and citizenship requirements. Many of your initial questions concerning the USAF enlisted military experience can be answered at https://www.airforce.com/. If you are invited to the live audition, you will be required to meet with an official Air Force recruiter to be pre-qualified for basic military training. The audition coordinator can assist with this process and provide further instructions. Qualified applicants may be assigned to any USAF Regional Band, depending on the greatest need of the Air Force. Air Force Regional Bands are located at the following Air Force Bases: Langley, Wright-Patterson, Scott, Offutt, Lackland, Travis, Ramstein, Hickam and Yokota.
