THE UNITED STATES ARMY FIELD BAND

is the Department of the Army’s premier touring musical representative. Its mission is to develop positive connections on behalf of the U.S. Army, the Department of Defense, and the United States through live music and multimedia performances, media, television productions, and emergent technologies. The Field Band has appeared in all fifty states and in more than thirty countries on four continents. The organization’s five performing components, the Concert Band, Soldiers’ Chorus, Jazz Ambassadors, Commercial Music Group, and Six String Soldiers, each travel more than 100 days annually. Tours include formal public concerts, school assemblies, educational outreach programs, festivals, and radio and television appearances.


SALARY & BENEFITS

  • $72,000-80,000 starting salary

  • 30 days paid vacation annually

  • Full Medical and Dental care, plus medical care for immediate family members

  • Permanent assignment at Fort Meade, MD, in the Washington, DC area

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Perform across the United States and abroad in live concerts, chamber recitals, and ceremonies as a member of the Concert Band and Chamber Brass

  • Solo opportunities available

  • Contribute to innovative performances for television, livestream broadcasts, albums, and videos

  • Connect with students across the country through the outreach mission

  • Learn and refine new skills as desired in multimedia production, marketing, music education, and others


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional performance level with emphasis on symphonic playing

  • Professional skill level in diverse commercial styles

  • Bachelor of Music degree or higher preferred but not required

  • Meet Army height/weight standards and maintain a trim appearance

  • Civilian applicants must be 17-34 years of age or up to 42 with a waiver

  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder)
