What are the details on Josh Jones in KC & Pedro Fernandez in Philly?
I don't know anything about Pedro, but the Josh Jones situation seems to be fairly well documented. You can start here:
I don't anticipate the section members will ever really speak out, even in an anonymous-type forum like this, as it would be too obvious who had access to what kind of information. You're not likely to get anything but general talk. The true story will likely never fully emerge, even to players within the orchestra. No one side probably as all the facts in a case like this except perhaps those making the decision not to tenure him.
That said, and opening admitting ignorance and lack of knowledge, sadly it seems like a lose-lose situation. You have a mega-talent who may now be seen as unhireable by most. That's a travesty. I don't know who suggested to him to take the entire thing into the public spectacle it has become, but it seems ill-advised. I really hope something good comes out of the situation for him, whether it's solo opportunities, being reinstated, or... something. Would you really want to stay employed with a bunch of people you just publicly called racists? I'm still baffled at that strategy. Maybe that was never the point... and he's hoping this will be a long-term good for the industry. I sincerely hope he finds a good situation and fulfillment in either an orchestral or solo path.
