Does anyone know who won the 1-year Knoxville Symphony principal trumpet audition? 🎺🎺
This audition resulted in a no-hire.
do you know how many people showed up to this audition?
I'd say that heavily depends on the orchestra offering the 1-year..... If the New York Phil held a 1-year audition, you can bet the interest level would be very high!
Some people may not like it, but situations like this are why many orchestras of a similar size/budget to Knoxville (and larger ones too) will just appoint someone to fill a 1-year vacancy like this without holding an audition. It's common practice to appoint a tenured member of the section to the open principal role, and then hire a top-choice local substitute player for a 1-year in the section. It just makes more sense than trying to hold an audition for something like this.
I heard like 10 people were at this. Kudos to the orchestra for giving people a fair shot
